Clarity shouldn’t take months to arrive at when it can arrive in fivehoursdays.

One principle
principle/ˈprɪn.sə.pəl/noun · the Live in Five practice
The most decisive, lasting brand work happens when the scope is contained and the commitment is complete.
“Distilled from twenty-plus years of cross-industry communications work. Brought to every sprint we lead.”
One rule · every engagement, no exceptions
Why the sprint format exists
Most brand processes serve the agency’s timeline. Not yours.
The usual way
The sprint
Most brand processes are built around the agency’s timeline, not the client’s. Months of discovery, rounds of revisions, deliverables that arrive long after the moment they were needed has passed. The result is a brand that reflects where the business was six months ago, not where it is today.
Live in Five was built as the antidote. Not a faster version of the same broken process but a fundamentally different approach. Scope contained. Commitment complete. Work delivered at the end of the sprint, not weeks after it.
The sprint format works because it forces the decisions that other processes defer. Every session ends with something real. Every day produces something usable. The deadline isn’t a constraint, it’s what makes the work possible.
Years of cross-industry brand and communications work in the performing arts, social impact, emerging tech, cultural institutions, educational organizations, consumer brands, and SaaS.
7+
Industries that have almost nothing in common, which is exactly why the pattern recognition built across them sees things that single-industry expertise misses.
1
Consistent principle behind every engagement: the work is done when the sprint ends, not weeks later.
How we work
Four principles. Non-negotiable.
Decisions are made, not deferred
Every session ends with a clear output. If a decision needs to be made in the sprint, it gets made. Nothing is left open for a follow-up email or a next session that may never happen.
Honesty over reassurance
If something isn’t working, whether it’s a direction, a decision, or a brief that needs more thought, we say so. The sprint is too short and too focused for anything less than complete honesty.
The work is delivered when the sprint ends
Not a week later. Not pending final approval on a revision round. The sprint ends, the work is in your hands. That’s the commitment and it doesn’t move.
Fit matters more than revenue
If the sprint isn’t right for where you are, we’ll tell you on the discovery call and point you toward what is. A sprint that isn’t the right fit produces work that doesn’t hold. That’s not a good outcome for anyone.
The team
Small by design. Expert by necessity.
Live in Five works because the team is focused, experienced, and fully invested in every sprint. We don’t hand work off to junior staff. The people on the discovery call are the people in the sprint.
